13 foreign military officers pay tribute at National Martyrs‍‍‍‍` Memorial

Under the leadership of Director General of Defense Intelligence (DGFI) Major General Hamidul Haque, 13 military officers from 11 countries paid tribute to the martyrs at Savar National Memorial those who are working as military representatives (Defense Attaché) of various embassies assigned in Dhaka.

The homage was officially paid at around 9:30 am on Sunday (February 4). They paid floral tributes to the martyrs of the Great War of Independence and stood solemnly for a while. Foreign military officials then signed the visitation book at the National Memorial. 

After paying tribute, DGFI Director General Major General Hamidul Haque said that on the invitation of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the military representatives of various countries assigned to Dhaka have come here to pay their respects to the martyrs who participated in the Great Liberation War in 1971. They paid tribute to the management of DGFI today (Sunday). Here, 13 military representatives from 11 countries paid tribute to the martyrs.

In response to a question, the DGFI chief said that we have relations with every country. The foreign policy of Bangladesh is "friendship with all and animosity with none.‍‍`‍‍` Military representatives of various countries have paid respect to our martyrs.

13 resident Defence Attachés of 11 different countries attended the Wreath laying at National Martyrs’ Memorial, Savar with a view to paying deep homage and reverence to those who embraced martyrdom in our Liberation War 1971. Namely Lieutenant Colonel John Dempsey of Australia, Senior Colonel Du Xinsheng of China, Brigadier Manmeet Singh Sabarwal and Colonel Azwan Abdi of Indonesia, Brigadier Soe Nyunt of Myanmar, Brigadier Roshan Shumsher Rana of Nepal, Colonel Mahmoud M. J. Sharawnah of Palestine, Colonel Sergey Viktorovich Naydenov and Lieutenant Colonel Alexey Yurievich Terekhov of Russia, Colonel Erdal Şahin of Turkiye, Lieutenant Colonel John Crawford Maclellan Scots of UK, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Eric De Michiei and Major Ian Leonard of USA. The delegation was headed by Major General Hamidul Hoque, OSP, nswc, psc Director General of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).
